Challenge: To develop awareness around Connecticut-based alternative pop-rock band Phatt James and to secure press around its new music video “Seven Days” (released in February 2024), as well as its debut album “Just Begun” 9 months after its initial release in May 2023.
Solution: With a focus on promoting the band’s new music video and March 30 show at Park City Music Hall, we targeted a variety of local and online media to secure reviews, interviews, and radio play, and to get the music video and album in front of new listeners.
Results: 37 pieces of coverage, including radio play on Connecticut station 95.9 The Fox and Temple University’s radio station WHIP; multiple interviews on local college radio, including University of New Haven’s WNHU, Quinnipiac University’s WQAQ, and Eastern Connecticut State University’s WECS; reviews and interviews with online outlets and podcasts such as Culture Flux, Audio Addiction, Just Start, Why Music? Podcast, and Stereofade Magazine podcast; and live show reviews and photo coverage with Alternative Lately and Melodía Magazine.
“I was especially taken with the recent release of the music video for the group’s song ‘Seven Days’, which is a cut off of their 2023 debut album Just Begun. This song again has that retro feeling that wouldn’t have been out of place in the 90’s or early 2000’s, especially between its Chili Peppers-style guitar-slicing groove and a sense of lyrical heartache that brings to mind Sublime’s ‘Semi-Charmed Life’.”
